Just Once

Oh to of held you just once
is that too much to ask?
All of the dreams that I had,
were washed away so fast.
I know that I did everything to keep you,
but in the end it wasn’t up to me.
So away you were called up to Heaven,
to leave but always watch me..
I grieve every night when I feel so empty,
my heart broken and aching to still have you with me.
But yet every night in my secret safe place,
not quite awake but not asleep either.
You come and cover me with your warm embrace,
telling me that you will always be with me.
So every morning I can get up and smile,
knowing that although I never got to hold you
when night comes I can call you down from Heaven,
and you will come and stay till morning comes again.
