Emmy Dreams
My wish and dreams are with you there.
Emmy lives in every prayer.
Her small hand holds a star at night.
I see her face in morning light.
She is in my reach, but not my grasp.
And that is what has hurt me so.
To think of all the hopes we had,
Now changed for what we’ll never know.
And still though I may often wish,
For what has now crossed heaven’s gate.
I know she does not idle there.
For only mortals wish and wait.
For little Emmy robin sores
And sings within an angel’s chorus.
And one day when my work is done
And God has called me home,
Emmy Robin will be there to claim me as her own.
